2014 Draft

Round  Team Position First Last College Scout Score Comments
1 - 01 Camelot DT Sajon Washington San Diego State 4.45 As the scouts have it, Washington is the best player in the draft by a pretty substantial margin. However, his production pales in comparision to Alfred Wollam's. He warrants scouting before you grab him at the very top of the first, but it's hard to imagine him falling out of the first round.
1 - 02 Pittsburgh HB Kevin Phillipps Stanford 4.3 Average per carry isn't always a major red flag in the NPL draft, but it may warrant an invite if you plan to use a high first on him. Phillips looks like a middle first rounder on the whole.
1 - 03 Springfield Dend Jerel Jennings Colorado 4.4 Jennings has the goods to be the first DE off the board. He should go in the first half of the first round.
1 - 04 Reno WR Donte Haynesworth Michigan State 4.28 Haynesworth is a mid- to late-first round prospect. It's possible another receiver could sneak past him due to invite results, but it's hard to position a player this good overall slipping out of the first.
1 - 05 Mars LB Dale Razzano North Carolina 4.25 There's not much to complain about here, so why can't I get more excited about Razzano? Is it because I wouldn't want to hang my hat on my agility as a LB? Late first round prospect.
1 - 06 Canada CB Jerry Banaszak Arizona 4.45 An elite player who could be the first drafted, and who should surely be gone in the top five picks.
1 - 07 Charlotte DT Alfred Wollam Arkansas 4.38 Being teamed up with last year's top pick, Ken Scott, for much of his career surely helped boost Wollam to stellar production, but he kept rolling on even without Scott. Wollam may or may not ultimately be a better prospect than Washington, but he is unquestionably a first round prospect. He should be off the board around the middle of the round.
1 - 08 Charlotte Dend Johnpaul Grogan Hawaii 4.28 On Mel's board, Grogan should be off the board near the end of the first round.
1 - 09 Ouranos Tend Jim Franklin Stanford 4.33 Frankin is an elite talent in the scouts' eyes. Does this mean he'll be picked in the top four? History says no, though it'll be hard to justify passing him up if the scouts are on target. Should go no later than the middle of the first.
1 - 10 Loch Ness OffC Warren Braxton, Jr. San Diego State 4.35
1 - 11 Oakland WR Allen Hererra Purdue 4.08 Hererra projects right on the cusp of the first round. His overall talent is likely to place him squarely in the first, where he could compete with Haynesworth to be the first WR taken.
1 - 12 Chicago HB Jon Oats Michigan State 3.88
1 - 13 Loch Ness CB Jalen Booker Washington 4.28 It would have been nice for Booker to show some sign of elite ability--a long interception return, a safety, a TD--but despite the lack of eye-popping stats, Booker is a fine, complete corner. Should go in the middle third of the first round.
1 - 14 Loch Ness WR Junior Crimmel Florida State 4.18 Simple number crunching says he's an early second round pick. This will go one of two ways: If the scouts are dead on about his physical ability, he could go a little later. If the scouts have underestimated his athleticism, he could move into the first round and really press the question of which WR should go first. If you're interested, an invite could be in order.
1 - 15 Taiwan LB Jimmy Greco Southern Cal 3.9
1 - 16 Reno FB Rodney Samuels Michigan State 4.38 Samuels ranks second overall and tops among offensive players. It seems unlikely that a fullback will go that high, but Samuels should really be off the board in the first half of round one.
1 - 17 Area 51 Dend Corey Davenport Arizona State 4.1 Not quite as accomplished statistically as Grogan and Jennings, but darn close. Solid second round prospect who could warrant a look in the first from a needy team.
1 - 18 Bangor CB Steve Mccray Oklahoma 4.05 McCray, like Cherico, doesn't appear to be a sure-fire starting candidate. But he shows a knack for a big play and has no really glaring holes. Mccray should be drafted around the middle of the second round.
2 - 19 Camelot OffT T. Hoover II Texas 4.35
2 - 20 Pittsburgh CB Jerry Cerchio Southern Cal 4.15 Cherico seems like an iffy starting prospect but a solid backup prospect at a position where the backups play a lot of snaps. He should be off the board no later than the middle of the second round
2 - 21 Springfield OffG Gregory Harris Washington 4.45
2 - 22 Mars DT Gary Williams Penn State 4.18 Middle second round pick.
2 - 23 Mars Safe Travis Henderson Michigan State 4.3 Henderson slots in as a late first round prospect, but he could easily slip into the second.
2 - 24 Canada OffG James Walls Boston College 4.4
2 - 25 Charlotte OffT Steve Aiken Brigham Young 4.13
2 - 26 Charlotte QB Jared Douglas Florida 4.23 Douglas is an efficient passer who should come off the board in the bottom third of the first round. He may work best in a rhythm game where he can get the pass away quickly.
2 - 27 Ouranos QB Justin Peeples Notre Dame 4.08 Middle third rounder who could go earlier if someone feels the need for a QB.
2 - 28 New Jersey OffC Darrien Hasanoglu Nebraska 4.1
2 - 29 Oakland WR Eric Burianek Washington State 4.05 A nice athlete who lacks elite speed, Burianek should be a productive pro receiver, but he doesn't really look like a game-breaker. Projects to the middle second round.
2 - 30 Chicago WR Fredrick Wright North Carolina 3.88
2 - 31 Oakland HB Cletidus Hurst Penn State 4.05 Middle third rounder with a chance to become a starter down the road.
2 - 32 Taiwan OffT Derek Bonner Ohio State 4.03
2 - 33 Loch Ness FB Austin Edwards Oklahoma 4.13 Edwards projects to the bottom of the second round, and it's not clear he'll go that soon. But if the scouts talk more loudly than the stats, he may have starting potential down the road.
2 - 34 Reno LB Keith Lester Miami 4.25 I wish he had more sacks, though the three safeties combined with a TD on a pick and some fumble recoveries all combine to demonstrate the ability to make big plays now and then. Slots in toward the end of the first/top of the second.
2 - 35 Area 51 Safe Malcolm Bell Syracuse 4.15 Projects to the top third of the second round and could go before Henderson, depending on what a team is looking for.
2 - 36 Bangor QB R. Archey Kansas State 3.88
3 - 37 Camelot OffC Damien Sims Virginia Tech 4.03
3 - 38 Pittsburgh OffG Rob Mandina Tennessee 4.15
3 - 39 Springfield DT Travis Davenport Virginia Tech 4.03
3 - 40 Mars Tend Daron Cureton Arizona State 4.08 Projects to an early second round pick, but he has some real holes in his game.
3 - 41 Mars FB Andre George Southern Cal 4.1 George projects as a mid-second rounder who is more of a blocker than skill guy, and if the right team is in the market he should justify that projection.
3 - 42 Canada WR Eric Pupunu Notre Dame 3.98
3 - 43 Charlotte WR Donald Bryant Syracuse 3.98
3 - 44 Charlotte OffC Shawn Lepsis Washington State 3.65
3 - 45 Ouranos Safe Ben Montgomery North Carolina 4.05 The third in a trio of safeties projecting to the top of the third round. If he can produce as many turnovers in the pros as he did in college, Montgomery could easily move into the second round.
3 - 46 New Jersey HB Jabari Hampton Virginia Tech 4.0
3 - 47 Oakland Kick TyVaughn Eldridge Syracuse 4.5
3 - 48 Chicago HB B DeGraffnrd Kansas State 3.95
3 - 49 New Jersey FB Don Colbert Washington 3.9
3 - 50 Mars CB Jeff Jones Nebraska 4.0
3 - 51 Taiwan OffG Dewey Milburn Purdue 4.03
3 - 52 Reno QB Cordell Fye Florida State 4.05 With agility as his biggest hole, Fye looks like a good prospect. He rates a pick in the bottom of the third, but I could see a team that likes him pulling the trigger sooner.
3 - 53 Area 51 CB Troy Mccoy Stanford 3.68
3 - 54 Bangor Safe Sean Carter Arizona State 3.5
4 - 55 Camelot OffG Bruce Barnette Michigan State 3.88
