PPP Rules

Section 1: Personnel

1. All offensive plays will use this minimum personnel configuration:

1 C
2 G
2 T
1 QB

After these minimums are satisfied, the other players can be chosen from any other offensive Skill position.

2. QB1 will be used in all regular offensive plays.

3. Either WR1 or WR2 (or both) must be used on any running play where a WR is in play and on all pass plays.

4. In no cases can an ineligible player (an offensive lineman) be used as a ball carrier or receiver.

Section 2: Alignment

1. The offensive line must be aligned in the standard NFL fashion:

T G C G T

The outermost OL must be touching the hashmarks.

2. All plays must have seven players lined up on the LOS (line of scrimmage): the five OL and two eligible receivers, one on each side of the OL. The eligible receivers may be split wide from the OL..

3. All snaps must go to the QB.

4. The QB may line up no more than 8 yards from the LOS and must be directly behind the center.

5. The QB may not drop back more than 11 yards behind the LOS.

6. Players lining up in the box must be no fewer than 3 yards behind the LOS and no more than 10 yards behind the LOS. This includes players who have shifted or moved via motion into the box.

7. Players lining up outside the box may be no more than 5 yards behind the LOS.

8. Only one player may shift per passing play. Very small shifts will not be allowed.

9. Players in motion on passing plays cannot pass behind the QB.

10. No player shifting into the box may be used as a receiver.

11. WRs and TEs may not be used as runners from inside the box.

12. WRs cannot line up in the box in the initial formation. However, they may move (via a shift or motion) into the box to become a blocker.

13. No non-offensive lineman may line up directly in front of the QB. Players must be at least a player width from the QB.

Section 3: Player Logic

1. General rules regarding player logic:

a. "Stop and wait" logic may only be used as the first instruction on a play and only by players lining up inside the box.

b. Players may not be delayed by more than .5 seconds using "Stop and wait" logic.

c. Plays which delay a receiver until the AI views the play as broken and the receiver goes uncovered will be ruled illegal.

d. Receivers may not go backwards behind the LOS then go out for a route. Players running screen pass patterns may go backwards, but the pattern cannot cross the LOS and the player may not go more than 11 yards behind the LOS.

e. "Throw fake" logic may not be used behind the LOS.

f. Throw fake may only be used once on each side of the field, at least 10 yards from another offensive player.

g. Receivers may not be "Stacked" outside the box. This means one receiver may not line up behind another. There must be at least one player-width between receivers horizontally along the LOS.

2. Running plays:

a. No player may have "look for pass", "pass" or "fake pass" logic.

b. Pitches and handoffs must not travel across the LOS.

c. Any running play recorded as a pass at any time will be deemed illegal.

A general note on running plays: Because of differences in player stats, a running play that is legal with one set of players may not be legal with another. It is up to individual teams to police this. Those violating play design rules may be punished as the league sees fit.

3. "Check Receiver" pass plays:

a.The QB may not come within 5 yards of the LOS at any time once they are outside the box on rollouts.

b. At least two players must have "look for pass" logic.

4. "Timed" pass plays:

a. The pass must be thrown from inside the box.

b. No receiver's pattern may take that receiver more than 20 yards beyond the LOS.

c. The pass cannot travel more than 20 yards from the LOS.

d. Timed passes may not be thrown to players behind the LOS.

e. At least two players must have "look for pass" logic, including the targeted receiver.
