Section 1:
Personnel 1. All defensive plays will use this minimum
personnel configuration:
1 DT
1 DE
1 LB
2 CB
1 S
2. All plays must use a minimum of three defensive linemen.
After the above minimums are satisfied, the other players can
be chosen from any other defensive position. |

Section 2: Alignment
1. All defensive linemen must set up in the "down" position
(e.g., they cannot be standing up at the snap).
2. DTs can line up no further outside than the outside edge of
the hashmarks.

Section 3:
Logic
1. No part of a zone defense can inside the box on
the offense's side of the line of scrimmage.
